Our snowmobiling weekend away!

We had a great weekend! It was interesting though! We left Wednesday night from our house to go to my parents around 8:45 cause Jeff had a meeting that night, thinking that the kids would go back to sleep on the way there, nope! Only Kayla slept for a few minutes but Zach and Jules were wide awake! Actually Juliana ended up staying awake until 11:50!!! Zach thankfully went back to sleep once I put him to bed around 11.

We got up in the morning, and waited for our friends to meet us there. We left around 10 and headed up. We got to the cottage around 4, and ended up getting both vehicles stuck in the driveway. That took the guys a while to dig out! It was about 1/2 hour of winding dirt roads covered in ice and snow to get back to the cottage. Well, the guy that was supposed to go and heat the wood stove to thaw the cottage out 2 days before had just done it a few hours before so the water pump was frozen and it takes 2 days to thaw so we decided to call around and get a hotel room in North Bay. It wouldn't have been too bad without water, other than the bathroom situation! Each couple had their own "potty" to use, that was interesting! I made sure to not drink too much so I didn't have to use it too much! We had a quick supper and crashed early. Jeff and I ended up pulling the mattress out in the living room and sleeping near the wood stove cause otherwise we would have been an icicle in the morning! So the guys got up early to go shovel off the roof cause it was so deep. They did that for a couple of hours, it was up past Jeff's waist. Then we tried to get out again and it had snowed a few inches over night. We got our van out but our friend's truck was stuck. So we all piled in together in the van and left the truck there. We got stuck going out cause it was very hilly as well as very deep snow. Luckily after trying for about 20 minutes the plow ended up coming and we were able to get out. Then we headed to North Bay to drop the guys off at the ski hill for the day. Well they didn't open until 6 that night (fluke thing, they are always open around 9) So we all went to the hotel and then had showers cause we were all so thankful for running water! We went for lunch and went back to crash for a bit. The guys went skiing later on and we just stayed in the hotel. It sure is interesting sharing a hotel room with other people! The next morning we got up and drove to the snowmobile rental place (Uncle Dave & Aunt Nancy's!) We left from there on the sleds around 10 and headed towards the hotel (a couple of hours) to have a bathroom break. Our one friends decided to stay there cause she was too cold. So me, Jeff and our other friend headed back out. I was so cold towards the end of the day, especially once the sun went down. We finished sledding around 8 (I think) so it was a long day, but lots of fun! Next year, I'll definitely make sure to buy some real boots and lots of those heat packs you put in your gloves!!!

We left to go home around 10 and got to my parents around 3:30. It was so nice to see the kids! Zach came walking up to me when I walked in, it was so cute! He really got better over the few days we were gone. Then we packed up the kids and left and got home around 6 or so. Here's some pics!

I always take a pic of Jeff driving every time we go away!
Here's Jeff calling hotels to see if there were any rooms available.
Our friend Jason running back from his truck with his helmet on! LOL!
The hotel room. Sunset Inn in North Bay!
The room (our bed was the double near the window)
The view from our room (that is Lake Nipissing right off the parking lot, obviously frozen)
After heading out snowmobiling! (I'm in the blue, our friends are in the red)
Going across a lake
Absolutley frozen! I have my hands on the hand warmers on the handle bars trying to thaw!
On top of a lookout near Bonfield.
Still cold! We stopped for lunch and I thawed out a bit! Just to let you know how much I was wearing I had a tank top, long sleeved shirt, t-shirt, hoodie sweatshirt, fleece coat and my winter coat on, and I had thermal undwear, comfy pants, jeans and my snowpants on and was still cold! It was -23 in the morning!
The sunset on top of another look out
